I have long been a fan of the Cruising Yacht Club at North Haven; it has so much to offer and it surely is one of the hidden treasures of function centres in South Australia.

First of all the Yacht Club has the most amazing Function Coordinator. Michelle Matte has been voted by the brides of ABIA (Australia Bridal Industry Awards), Adelaide’s best function co-ordinator many times! She has literally organised hundreds of weddings and events, working there for almost 10 years! She’s an absolute professional and perfectionist ensuring that every single detail of your wedding is looked after! A true angel of the industry!

There is also the view; if you haven’t been you must put it on your list. There is lots of parking and the grounds and venue are pristine. Besides its location near the beach it overlooks the beautiful North Haven Marina. It is stunning! But what else does it offer?

The Yacht Club has a seating capacity of up to 150 people comfortably with a dance floor. A lot of function centres max out at a 100/120 so the Cruising Yacht Club is a great choice if you have larger numbers. There is nothing worse than having tables squashed together in a venue and also resulting in a reduced dance floor. At CYC you can have both – comfort and a dance floor.

It also has a dedicated ceremony site that’s less than 2 years old overlooking the marina. The ceremony site is just to the left of the reception area so guests can easily move from one area to the other…no traveling necessary here! It has beautiful gardens and has an array of perfect places to take your wedding photos and guests can relax and have drinks while they wait.

The site is available for hire for a small fee which includes 30 chairs and a red carpet.

And, if you really want to surprise your guests, some club members generously offer their boat to brides so you can be delivered in style cruising on a beautiful boat to your ceremony. And the fee? I think it is either some wine or ales that they enjoy after they have delivered the bridal party to the ceremony! It is definitely a different spin to the normal “wedding cars”, just ask Michelle and she’ll give you the details.

So that’s it, CYC one of Adelaide’s best wedding venues near the sea!

If you come across this post and have been or are going to be a CYC bride, would love to hear your feedback and experiences. Photos too would be even better.
